We were in discussions with the Ukraine government between 2014 and 2021. For 7 years, the US, with NATO allies, considered the overall prospects of Ukraine's involvement in NATO as well.

There are some issues with this whole problem that has confounded the War from a Civil War to a Russian Involvement:
A) The considerations didn't come till after the Civil War began.

B) The Separatists had accused the Ukraine Government of election manipulation in 2013. And despite peaceful protests, were met with police and military violence in Kyiv.

C) The West had failed, multiple times, to litigate a peaceful resolution between Ukraine and the Separatist Nations and dissuade further violence. Often with the Ukrainians and the Nationalists typically ignoring the ceasefires due to tit for tat combat actions.

D) With the fact that Russia was beginning to see a ramping up of delegation between Ukraine and NATO, an organization that has explicitly shown a particular angst for the Russian Federation, despite the Russian Federation not being the Soviet Union since 1992.

And knowing that NATO is hardly a "force for good" considering its mishandlings of a multitude of 1990's and 21st Century conflicts (Kosovo, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Somalia, the Gulf War and subsequent Iraq War and Afghanistan, the proliferation of continued conflict post-2011 US withdrawal and either blatant refusal or a complete mishandling of peaceful litigation for the Syrian Civil War)...

If the US was seeing a similar scenario between Mexico and China in order to better assuage the conflict plaguing the state, while seeing to the improvement of economics, political strength, and a better position overall on the global stage, the US would be, justifiably, willing to invade Mexico and deal with it.

We did the same thing with Germany during World War I, when they asked Mexico to help (Zimmerman Letter).

So this whole argument predicates on the complete and utter ignorance of the last 30 years of history that has passed, and hopes that most of you will just be focusing on the last 6 months of a conflict that has been raging for nearly 9 years now... Around the same time that the Syrian Civil War began as well. And everyone absolutely supported Russia's involvement in Syria and wanted the US out of it completely...

The irony of people with such narrow, shortsighted, short term memory.
