I saved my brother's life at home using the Heimlich maneuver. Two others in the house, but one was bedridden, one had severe dementia, and I had only just entered the house... never did the maneuver before, he had to direct me using gasping whispers. God bless it worked because he'd already been trying to get the piece of food dislodged for almost a minute without success. It was one of the most scariest moments I can recall.

So convince me, why should the Heimlich always be first? Most people don't know how to do it, it isn't always done properly, and it's limited by the necessity of being behind the person. If this works, why shouldn't this be first?

Heimlich does work, I know because I've done it on myself when I was a Teenager, That behind said it can be hard to do, I'm Still gonna get a Lifevac no matter what because Choking ain't fun
