Also, showing a person what they may not know be asking a new question can be as useful as showing them the answer to a question they already know. Not knowing what one does not know is a far greater blindness than knowing what one does not know.

This talk is a good example of syndrome search of deep meaning in pure consumption. )
My vision of a good life to see more efficiency in goods manufactured and not broken just after the warranty expires.

Thoughtful and interesting way of engaging with these ideas. Good talk.

In addition, there has been many reports of higher cancer rates round areas of nuclear power plants, and many people have linked it with nuclear power plants... so them smaller bits of radiation are obviously enough to cause cancer.

Well, it all rests upon what he initially said; that moral values are relative. So I believe he meant for people to apply these questions to their own lives - leading to different answers for each individual.

Imo the layout for answering the questions are the questions themselves.

And I guess it's hard to be ground-breaking when it comes to relativistic moral philosophy.

According to their website, TED is open to suggestions."Have an idea? We want to hear from you." So if you feel that that they need to work on the dress code, that's the place to send your ideas.

Yes, I agree with you. I am not criticizing people in general. We just don't have the time think about things deeply all the time.

See the last TED talk on gallop polls and Muslims country public opinions? A prime example of what you are talking about.

Not all people think as deeply as the TED audience does. They just do what is easiest and feels good. That is it.

Well, maybe he could have put the opening argument abit thoroughly, that all these well hoped use of game elements for raising motivation seems to trigger less (intrinsic) motivation in the long term leading to less motivated subjects ultimately. But anyway, the argument of ...intention, somewhat direct and indirect effects, inherent values, aims and images of virtue and impacts on life.. comes through. And yes, it´s a talk about the modus operandi of design thinking -what´s bad on that?

I almost stopped watching this TED talk after the first minute because it sounded like globalist doubletalk, but I watched it all the way through and it seems like a valid topic for discussion and would like to see examples of various designs.

What does being invited to lecture have to do with whether someone dresses for the occasion or not?
Form and function go together.

Presenting a number of questions without even as much as a layout to answer these questions come across as vague and not much at all in terms of pushing anything forward.

in the contest of human history, this guy's ideas are as important as a fart in a hurricane.

P3. Design: Making your children jump through hoops for rewards is bad because it makes them become dependent on praise off people, rather than doing whats right. To be socially respected rather than doing what makes sense to them, and to get twisted between being ethical and keeping people happy. So this is why it would be bad to give badges out, and it would also make the other children compete and want more badges to feel more socially accepted, in effect messing up society by back stabbing.

In the immortal words of Tyler Durden, "I am Jack's complete lack of surprise. You're not your job. You're not how much money you have in the bank. You're not the car you drive. You're not the contents of your wallet. You're not your khakis. F off with your sofa units and strine green stripe patterns, I say never be complete, I say stop being perfect, I say lets evolve, let the chips fall where they may. The things you own end up owning you."

Yay Fight Club. We have a choice to define our lives by Having or by Becoming. There's elements of each in the other, but which is the means & which is the end? Our possessions & our roles DO say much about us, but they're NEVER the whole story. We make choices, but choices can be rethought, and so we become & re-become.
Ever wonder what happened with the unnamed protagonist after the end of the movie? What did his life look like after that (other than serious prison time)?
