Thanks for getting me up and running, couldn't have cracked that learning curve without first reading the 200 page manual and I wanna play with my toy! Seriously though, very grateful, happy new year.

Also running windows in 64 bit helps a lot. I reinstalled Windows 7 in 64 bit and PD 12 went from being tortuously slow and unstable to a pleasure to work with. Also by switching to 64 bit I was able to use more RAM. I had a 3.3 GB cap before. Now I'm running 16 GB of RAM. I had to reinstall all my programs, but it was worth it!

I do believe that it is worth getting, if you need to make multi-track videos and want to apply effects. The quality of the video encoding is excellent and hardware acceleration speeds up processing quite a bit.

Yes it does. As long as FRAPS is installed for the Codec than the program can read the files.

Yes, when you are producing the video you have the option to upload directly to youtube or you can process them however you like and them manually upload them to YouTube.
Thank You.

I use this on a Latitude 6410 which is almost a three year old laptop. The software runs fine, though I usually stay under 20 minutes of video length. A high end machine certainly would run better and encode the videos faster. One of the biggest consideration is something that you can utilize hardware acceleration on and the amount of memory (8GB minimum for the best experience).

PowerDirector is intuitive enough so that a beginner would be able to use it without a problem. But it is also advanced enough that you can get crazy with your edits. In all honesty you could run PowerDirector on your existing PC, but my suggestion would be to look into a Core i5 machine with 8GB of memory and a discrete graphics card (AMD/Nvidia) so that you can use the hardware acceleration when processing your video.

This is a core i5-540m which is from 2010 and this laptop only has 4GB of memory in it. Encoding can take some time on it but it does work without issue.

Really good video got slow towards the end, but good enough for me go to buy this software & being a complete novice it gave me the confidence to have a go. Many thanks & keep up the good work...

The timeline is visually matched to your clips. So, the video clip on top will show over the rest. So, if you want to shrink one clip, or multiple clips, you simply place the nested flip that will cover the whole frame below the ones you want to shrink. Hope I helped.

Cyberlink offers the best balance of options, openness, and value for me. That it has 4k and 3d, put it well beyond consumer editing and into the small studio/professional videographer IMO. But if you're looking to work in feature film or broadcast televison, I'd learn adobe or final cut, just because more people who don't stay up to date on the software will recognize them. Learning how to edit well is more about learning how to make good decisions of what to cut and less about the software.

Yes you can split scenes however you need to using the trim and multi-trim tools.

There are many effects that you can apply in PowerDirector, including slow motion. You would simply alter the video speed under the Power Tools section.

I just got this for Christmas ^_^. Thanks for the tutorial

You should be able to import the video from a camera. Under the Capture tab PowerDirector should detect your device when it is plugged in.

This overview and tutorial is great.
Thank you for putting it on you tube.
Like many others, I would like to know what the typical system requirements are as specified by Cyberlink.
And then what have you done on your PC to match or exceed system requirements. So that your system works even better for your PC.
eg cpu, RAM, Disks, Operating system, to optimise fast rendering or other tasks.
