Miku never meant to play guitar, but once Saiki came along as lead singer, she decided to learn and Kanami began teaching her. She took her mentoring role very seriously, encouraging Miku when she almost quit, writing riffs with Kobato's skill progress in mind and challenging her with more stand-alone moments during concerts.

Almost eleven years later, gone are the days of the guitar being almost an accessory around Miku's shoulder. She's now is a solid rhythm guitarist that can keep up with BAND-MAID's most complex songs and Kanami is still her mentor and her biggest fan 💜

I have a daughter who is only a year younger than Saiki. When I see these ladies, I can't help feeling the same level of protectiveness as a proud father would. I just want my 5 'daughters' to never grow cynical and always embrace love and positivity despite living in a difficult world and navigating the harsh realities of showbiz and being in the glare of publicity. Together, they embody perfection even as they each come with individual imperfections. Protect them.

Seeing live performance where Mincho and Miku playing guitar together is always a treat. Looking at Kanami's face you see her pride in watching her prized student knowing how far she has come as a guitarist.
