An introduction to some of the new features in Serpens V2.0

What is Serpens?
Serpens aims to make the endless possibilities of blenders python scripting tools more accessible. It gives you Visual-Scripting options based on a custom node system to generate python code which you can then share and install as your own addons.

Wow! Making custom save script setups never looked so easy. Nicely done! Serpens FTW.

I don't think that people understand the underratedness and potential of this.
I was trying to work on something like this but for multipurpose programming (sadly I simply don't have that much time for that).

I'm starting to think that my idea could be done in Blender. I.e. Blender should seriously become a multipurpose content creation engine and an all-in-one solution for any kind of software development. Maybe that would be easier if it merged with Unity someday, but I would like it to remain open source forever!

I honestly think that it is possible to do that if the strength of the community is directed properly and if it gets some investments.

I'll never stop wondering how is it 2021. and we still use pure, raw code for programming...mind blowing (and I say this is someone with years of experience in coding).

Steve! Great channel, new subscriber. Your coverage of Serpens prompted me to purchase and start exploring. I have some ideas with this for seeing if I can rig up a quad menu system like in 3dsMax. But one interesting thing...I'm not seeing a path for something seemingly simple: text nodes. There used to be GenericNote that worked with I guess everything before 2.8 when nodes was kind of a one-dimensional topic. But with the forthcoming everything-nodes, that add-on no longer works. Like that earlier script, I want to be able to write a text block in the text editor, then show that text popping up inside a node. And I'd like to be able to connect a bunch of nodes like that. I found a test example from Gabriel Montagné where he generates a whole new node category (I think that's the correct term) and then builds some nodes around that involving a little bit of text. And your demo for Serpens makes me think he was using Serpens also. I'm plodding forward, I need to study Serpens for more material. It's kind of surprising to me that text noding hasn't generated more interest among more users...good way to feel "odd." Looking forward to more content from you, thanks.
