600HP Shelby Mustang GT500 | Where the Horsepower Wars Began

Hey guys! We're here today to find out if this 2008 Shelby Mustang GT500 was indeed the beginning of the horsepower wars as we know it. Pushing a whopping 500HP straight from the factory, this beast of a car allows you to swing the back end out with ease and shred tires like the best of them. Traditionally we're fans of the flame-spitting JDM icons we usually film, but today we decided to take a chance and go for a ride in one of the greats. Enjoy!

First generation gt500 looks mean as hell!, second generation gt500 looks a tad bit meaner! They're both nice cars! I wish you would do a review on a built 94-98 cobra

The Terminator (2003/2004) Cobra was underrated and had 420hp. The jump wasn't significant but the foundation was there for the 2005-2009 GT500 to be power kings. Salute to John Coletti chief SVT engineer who brought the Mustang into a competitive runner against the camaro and ultimately started the horsepower wars.

I think I like the 2007-2009 GT500 the best because Carroll Shelby was heavily involved with the production and marketing. After the first gen, you didn't really hear from him. The newer Shelby's are super nice, but too much tech for me. They drive themselves.

11:13 gives me goosebumps when he rips it sideways. I want one of these so bad now that i have seen what they can be had for. Found a low milage loaded 09 coupe all the good options (hid headlights and shaker 1000 system with the subs) and solid black leather onlh 32k stock and super clean for 24. I beleive one of thesw will be my next mustang when it comes time to buy in a year and a half. Love em.
