(Newport) Yaquina bar is a picnic compared with a lot of other bar's in Oregon. (although it has it moments)

Nothing is as bad as the Columbia Bar. I go to Newport regurarly and have NEVER seen a 30 foot wave, I live 70 mins away. I was there yesterday in fact ( Tuesday 9/12/16 ) and was down at Rogue Brewery watching those ships in and out. KGW 8 was down there too. I can't ever imagine 30 foot waves anywhere by the Bar. I have personally fished that bar, using squid and have never seen 30 foot waves. Now, on the Columbia yes, that is the most dangerous Bar on the Pacific.

Just went to the beach by the Yaquina Head Lighthouse last week. More gray whales than I've ever seen at one time were feeding on a shrimp bloom. One was just 20 feet off the rocks. Great weather and great whale watching! Great crab too - had some the next day. Yum!

It’s weird that this clip made it on the show. The water was absolutely pristine and calm. I can gurantee you that there’s no 30 foot waves that day.

The Newport Bar is known to be the safest on the Oregon coast. I've crossed it hundreds of times. If the bar is too dangerous to cross the Coast Guard closes it. I have never seen a 30 ft wave at the bar.
