Forty-five people have been killed and thousands left homeless in floods in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Aid agencies say the conditions are exacerbating a cholera outbreak the country has been fighting since July.

Al Jazeera's Hannah Hockster reports.

The problem is that they costrained streams in small spaces and the space around streams is immediately occupied by shanty towns and not kept free. Add trash and all other stuff they put in there and water will overflow.
