I find this to be one of the best movie intros of all time.

RIP William Hurt. This movie introduced him to me when I was a young teenager. I have had a crush on him pretty much my whole life. ♥️

The reason this intro is so great, in addition to the music, is how much information we learn about each character through just a few images. That's visual storytelling done right and sets up the whole story right from the top. Excellent.

Such a great movie and soundtrack. And after watching the documentary the actors had as much fun making it as we did watching it

The actual 'Big Chill' came approximately six months after the release of this movie, imo, when the great Marvin Gaye died on April 1, 1984. This song immediately came to mind when I found out about his death on a local radio station, and I remembered quite vividly that this song opened the movie. Didn't know at the time that we soon would be mourning the loss of a truly talented individual. RIP, Mr. Gaye...thanks for the wonderful music.

I love this movie and I agree the intro is one of the best ever done. They captured the reactions expertly for each character.

Just watched this for the first time ever last night on a first edition VHS from 1983. Wow, this picture quality is so much better. I'm definitely going to pick this set up!

A childhood friend of mine died by suicide this fall. I watched this movie on the plane to her funeral. This intro has stuck with me since

Never heard of this movie before. I picked up the soundtrack at a garage sale and loved it...thought I'd see what this movie was about.

These were my peers, where are they now? In their 70s or 80s. For you folks who are this age now keep in mind we never thought we'd be around, this late in life. Was impossible. We found out that you are lucky if you made it this far and are still upright. This movie is sort of a place marker for our 'grown-up' period, when we were the main players on the field, and we called the shots.

One of the best opening scene of any movie and would compare its impact to the best ending scene in that great post-WWII film noir, "The Third Man"! Haunting intro music and the song selection on the CD is great! Nostalgia engulfs you and then the macabre jolts you...terrific!
