Ponte Tresa Tasting Review July 7, 2023

Tasting Ponte Tresa was quite an experience, flavor was so pleasant and unique, something I have not tasted in any of the figs before. At first bite, this unique flavor reminded me of a coffee or some sort of nuttiness, one of those fancy flavors from Starbucks, and it was overwhelming the primary flavor of Strawberry mixed with honey. This was the only fig from this tree that tasted like this, and was the ripest of all. I should add that soil media was quite dry, and I did move the tree into the shed not to get rained on.

Nice looking fruit!! I like this variety, I had a late start last year and ripened some very late(end of October) and maybe because of the cold weather it was dark red inside, this year I don't have a lot of fruits on the tree but the few I have are good size now and will ripen under better weather conditions!

I rooted one cutting this year, it is in ground. I cannot wait to get some fruit from it.

Ponte Tresa is pretty good for humid climates. The skin is tough and leathery, doesn't taste great for me (maybe that's where you're getting coffee from), but that's why it handles the rain well.

Did you give your three an early start in a heated environment

Interesting! Coffee/nutty berry honey. I have a this verity but have not had fruit yet. Hopefully this year. I’ll have to check the leaves on mine. Can’t wait for fig season here. 😋🪴🪴🪴
