Remember that getting into a University is not about obtaining the education that they provide. Yes the professors that work. There can have high credentials and have a lot of information but the connections and the networking that the University provides as part of status of their connections with higher entities

Describing SNU students as the top 1% is technically misleading.
They are more like the top 0.0075% of all.

Remember guys. Going to the best University doesn't guarantee your success. There are plenty of other good schools to choose from in this modern age. Have a nice day.

In South Korea,
There is a long-standing tradition of ingrained university rankings only unique to Koreans,
Almost like a customary practice.

This ranking takes into account only campuses located in Seoul.

1st tier
Seoul National University

1.5th tier
Yonsei University / Korea University

2nd tier
Sungkyunkwan University / Hanyang University / Sogang University

3rd tier
Chung-Ang University / Kyung Hee University / Hankuk University of Foreign Studies / University of Seoul

If you are a foreigner and wish to study in Korea as an exchange student, I recommend the following universities:
(The following universities are ranked within the top 500 in the world according to the 2023 QS university evaluation.)

Seoul National University(41)
Yonsei University(76)
Korea University(79)
Sungkyunkwan University(145)
Hanyang University (164)
Kyung Hee University(332)
Chung-Ang University(494)

I wonder if you graduate bottom of your class at SNU, you'll still get a job over a person who graduated with honours/1st grade at a lesser known uni. Bottom line is it's not the education or even degree from the university it's the networking and being an Alunni.

it's always business administration majors or something related to economics, does anyone fight to get in and then just choose journalism or philosophy 😂?

I hate this world, if I'm poor and not good in studies then my life is doomed!

Every country has special universities that only allow the cream of the crop to get in. My country has it too. The difference is in most other countries even if you are not admitted at such top university you can still become successful even with less prestigious uni degrees. Whereas in Korea that's way rarer.

I know this video isn't about India, but in IIT only 5 to 6000 students are selected from 16 to 17 lakh students!

The person making this video clearly did not make it into any university at all if they think low intake rates means its somehow more difficult or only for geniuses. It just means demand is high. And in a society that is very very set on everyone being the same and valuing the same things of course they will all agree on one most prestigious university and then of course all apply to that one university. Especially considering more than half of their population lives in one single city

Even if the stats here are true, SNU is not a household name in the global market. I'd argue it's more impressive to attend a less selective, well known school than a more selective one with only a domestic reputation.
