Simple answer yes, Fassi has improved on defense but Willemse is a beast in both attack and defense. His physicality and versality allow him to adapt to either a conservative or expansive playing style

Yes. The utility allows for bench manipulation and serves the 23. My view is he will always be in the mix when fit. He IS that good.

I think we have recency bias. Willemse haven't played in a while and we forgot just how damn good he is. Fassi did good in the last Argentina game his performance in that game proved me wrong about him (which I am absolutely happy about).

Willemse’s physicality gives him the slight edge. Rassie clearly loves him as well. Although Kriel was behind Am, but Kriel has performed so well every game, he simply couldn’t have been dropped. I wonder if Fassi just keeps playing well, he’ll just stay first choice, until there’s a reason to change, as in Willemse just has a dominant game, or Fassi a bad game.
