Finally someone talking about this. I’ve been talking to Sony engineering as this moire issue has impacted several high-end television commercials I’ve shot with Sony A1 and A7SM3. You cannot always control wardrobe or metal screens that can absolutely destroy a shot. Do you have any tips for video? I find once it’s baked in it’s almost impossible to correct.

Tony if you double click "Effect:" just above the temperature slider and just below the words "Mask:", it resets all the values to default in the adjustment brush menu.

Tony, please use the word _inexpensive_ rather than _cheap_ 3:58. Inexpensive has the connotation of low price. Cheap has the connotation of low quality. Your stuff is definitely *high quality* .

With butterflies, moths, dragonflies etc, in strong sunlight at certain angles you often get strong multicoloured type patterns (it may technically be refraction) on hairs and wings. This can be removed using the moire slider on the local adjustment brush in Lightroom. You just have to be careful with the strength, so not to remove any natural colours.

Using LRs anti-moire tool still didn't fix the thread pattern. Even after the adjustment was applied, the area still didn't have an accurate thread pattern and show the threads accurately, with the woven texture accurately resolved. It still had a strange swirl-like texture, instead of the threads being woven at right angles to one another.
Just removing the odd color isn't really enough, if we want to have everything be depicted exactly the way it really is in real life. In my opinion, the adjustment didn't even come close to fixing the real problem, which is an inaccurate depiction of the finely woven texture.

It's only easy to fix if it's lesser moire pattern, if it's more extreme it's not an easy fix.

It's spelt "moiré", but it's pronounced "throatwarbler mangrove"

Would that count as to erase banding too?

What happens if you're someone who is slightly red/green colorblind? Reds can look brown, browns can look red, purples can look blue, and on one recent trip to the beach near dusk, I commented "What an odd green sky..." while my friends freaked out and insisted that it was orange. I probably wouldn't notice moire, so does this mean someone else needs to edit my photos if I ever need a pro-quality shot? Color adjustments fill me with anxiety.

Is it me or does it look like there are clouds passing by over the pants when zoomed in? Is that an optical illusion or does that have something to do with the television?

Guys have you ever done a video on optimal Lightroom export settings for social media/print? Would love to see this and am struggling to find anything definitive! Would love to see a video which explains in a bit of detail how to optimise your exports. Cheers.

I couldn’t see any moire on the pants on my iPad 2017 Pro 12.9. I assume that it’s possibly due to a subsampling difference from your screen?

Hey Tony, can you do a video on dealing with banding that occurs in blue skies and other large areas of color that are transitioning?

Maybe no option exists, but does anyone know of any good alternatives to Lightroom, free or not? My biggest issue with Lightroom is the subscription. I just got into photography as a hobby, and Lightroom works pretty nice. But paying a bigger sum upfront to me is probably better than forced subscriptions to use a software. It is nice to get updates, but I understand no sub models don't usually do that. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance for any serious replies.
