The Last Passport (2009) is an uplifting, inspiring drama about a mysterious old man who enters a magical passport office (Purgatory). George meets characters from all walks of life, dispensing his homespun wisdom as they slip in and out of the lines. Most of the film takes place in a small passport office where interested characters sit around the room waiting for their time to check out and receive their passport.

The film was shot in just three days and the entire story was written, shot, edited, and scored in just 30 days and made for just $5000. It premiered at the Solstice Film Festival in Minneapolis, Minnesota where it won Best Actor (Jimmy Hager) and Best Director (Kent Smith and David Temple) in 2009. The story was written by Kent Smith, David Temple, and Alex Bailey. It stars Jimmy Hager (When We Last Spoke), Dave Blamy (Rings, The Taking of Deborah Logan), Bonnie Johnson (Dopesick, Manhunt) and Rachel St. Gelais (The Twilight Saga, The Blind Side).

The interesting part was the whole process was recorded and streamed to the internet and over 10,000 people watched live from their homes. The crew was made of mainly locals from the Charlotte, N.C. area. The film has been shown to film students on how to make a low budget film at different universities around the country.

I hope people watch it through to the very end... It's the kind of movie that keeps you connecting dots and re-visiting the stories, as they unfold more fully... Very well written and performed.

My husband is just like George, anywhere we go he can connect with anyone and they always sit super close to him like the cruise lady, i use to get so jealous until i grew up and realize what a true gift i have.

Beautiful movie. You don’t need billions and millions of dollars to produce something so emotionally sound. Thank you so very much to everyone involved in the making of this movie.

What an incredible movie. It should be shown on every channel around the world to remind us the values we have lost and what truly matters in life - family values, appreciating the simple things in life and not chasing money, titles to make us happy. Family is everything and spending time with our children. Don't live to work - work to live!!😊❤

What a beautiful, lovely, simple, quiet film. I appreciate this more than all the cartoonish super-hero action movies put together. Thank you!

I'm 66 years old. I am praying to G-d I don't end up homeless and living on the streets. It is not easy to get old. Please save your money and prepare as much you can so you at the very least have a comfortable life. Have a good life. Do what you can to make life good, meaning don't cheat, lie or steal. Don't waste it on stupid stuff...alcohol, drugs, people who can't or don't want to love you. I have learned the hard way that if someone loves you they just love you and it doesn't have to be earned. I really don't have answers to give out but to keep your life aligned with G-d and that is the greatest love you can give to yourself. I wish everyone that comes here many blessings.

This could've been my Dad. I didn't fully appreciate his gift for connecting with people until he was gone. He is always with me.

Such a beautiful message. We never really know the struggles others are going through until we have the compassion to connect with them. Great job to everyone involved in this lovely film. Thank you for this gem. My heart has been warmed with hope for a kinder humanity. 💓

Most American (Hollywood) movies don't dig into deep philosophical human issues; perhaps because most people find them boring. This low budget movie dealt with the cross section of the American society's issues. To appreciate what this movie is to offer is to watch it in a calm and contemplating mood. Thanks for posting it.

This was a mild yet powerful movie without the messages being drilled at you. It was so calming yet the philosophy and life lessons that we probably already know, just gave a nudge of a reminder we are all going through something as we pass through. Wonderful movie! Thank-you for the upload.

I think the actor who played the old man’s role is Jimmy Hager. He is a great actor and played his role of a loveable old person in a fantastic way. In reality such people who are happy in any situation do exist in the world and everyone has to learn how to be content in what Providence has given us from such extraordinary personalities who otherwise look ordinary for the entire world. With such learning the entire world is a beautiful place for us to live in.
Hearty congratulations to the entire team who has made this film. I hope Jimmy reads my comments about his acting.
I am writing these comments from a faraway place but could not help expressing my feelings.

What a nice gentleman George was. He appreciated what life had given him, valued his one true love, took responsibility for his own actions, imparted his learnt wisdom onto others who needed to hear his advice, no matter who they were or what they looked like. His daughter was not proud of him nor did she understand why he made the financial choices he made regarding supporting his dying wife until his last penny and why those choices have now left him living in a box. Nicely done.

I called my boyfriend my knight in shining armor, and my Prince Charming, we married 3 years later. He passed away in 2000. He was only 51 yrs old. Now I have such a void, in my Heart, and no Peace in my Soul. 76, past 3/4 of a Century. So much has happened since the middle of 2000. He didn't have to visualize 911, all the wars in the Middle East, but he missed the rest of his grandkids and 4 great grandkids.

So happy to have found this gem. So well done, I was so comforted because I felt like I was in that office listening to George's wisdom. I love it when a creative endeavour becomes so rich even though the budget was small and time was limited. Goes to show that heart and spirit are what really count when creating. Thank you for making this beautiful, well-paced, down to earth production. Thank-you to the wonderful actors who come from their hearts and experiences too. I will be recommending to all my friends and relatives.

This is a radical concept of theater that is art and art that is life. Very well done. Don't skip ahead looking for the action. You'll miss all the content.
