🐝 Revisiting a queenless beehive. Small Hive Beetle slime out on a stressed beehive.

🐝 In this video, we revisit a hive that I identified as possibly queenless about three weeks ago.

🐝 I am almost certain this hive is hopelessly queenless however I will give them another week before I give up on them.

🐝 In the meantime, I will drastically reduce the space available to them by removing one or perhaps two honey supers.

🐝 I also look at a beehive that has been slimed out by small hive beetle & discuss the possible cause and what I could have done to prevent it.

Good videos mate. This might sound a bit stupid, but it works. I was giving an old bloke a hand with his hives, and when I say old he told me he was born in 1860, and he looks it. He still runs 15 triples though so he goes ok. I pulled up and here he was hosing out frames. I said what the hell are you doing mate, he said washing out the hive beetle larvae and cleaning out the slime. Anyway I gave it a shot on a couple of slimed hives and it bloody worked. Not too high pressure, wash them out, let them dry, either throw them in the freezer for three days or straight into strong hives and Bob's your aunty. He went from dementia status to guru status in a heartbeat.

Thoroughly enjoy your videos and appreciate the effort you go to. My hives are in Coffs and if my hive is so full it is about to swarm, bees keep bastard SHB under control. Anything less and SHB go nuts.

G'day Glenn gr8 video 👍l had an over wintered nuc with those nasty little beetles found the queen with less than a handful of bee's so placed her in a push in cage over a double screened divider board with frames of brood and bee's and now in a full 10 frame box ready for supering
