SCHD paid me $2, 154 in dividends this last quarter.
It purchased 25.5212 shares as it was reinvested.
Currently holding 2, 880 shares and loving it.

I am starting at 53. It will not be much when I reach the retiring age of 68/69 but will be a help to add to the rest of my retirement such as pension, 457b, 457b roth, ira roth, emergency savings, sinking funds for home repairs, funds for bills, individual stocks. The dividend from the individual stocks including schd will help make up of the social security that will be loss due to the windfall elimination provisions for having a pension. Staying consistent is the key, starting off $300 a month to buy schd and starting in January 2025 to include splg.

Great tips! As a beginner, I got overwhelmed by watching videos and each one was recommending a different stock or ETF. That put me in a state of decision paralysis and fear of doing the wrong thing. I’ve learned that you just need to start, somewhere relatively safe like an etf, and just start building. Time is on your side and you will be able to weather the ups and downs. I waste a lot of money on silly purchases and take out so I am now focusing on keeping to a budget for that stuff and when I spend it, that’s it. My extra money is going into investing now!
