Following A 1930s Magazine Makeup Tutorial 💄

so i heard about this vintage makeup magazine from the 1930s, and knew we had to try it out!! the magazine is full of tips and tutorials on how to do your makeup in a way that best suits your face, hair color, & complexion (though for a pretty limited range of skin tones). according to the magazine, i’m a ✨ spanish brunette ✨, which apparently means i need lots of rouge and purple eyeshadow (even on my double chin)! let me know what you guys think - are there any other decade looks you guys would want to see?? 🤔

The purple contour isn’t entirely wrong. When contouring shadows like enhancing cheekbones, you wanna use a cool tone contour because shadow is the lack of light reflecting color. Many people may use a warm bronzer to contour which doesn’t always work. I can imagine the purple would look nice in black and white film or in smaller amounts.

I think this kind of makeup look is a lot better than what is usually popular. Either this or a very natural look that doesn’t go crazy on the eyelashes. Very light and minimal makeup.

I'm into it. The purple contour could work if it was less saturated; purple color-correcting concealer is already a thing. (Think a muted, ashy purple; like a dark-ish dusty lavender)

add a little eyeliner and brow penciling with a smattering of modern contouring and I think you'd basically have it, take the basics they offer and update them and I think you'd look divine
