The tonearm lowering is supposed to be dampened, but the damping oil tends to thin out with age, causing it to lower more quickly. This is a common problem with many makes and models of turntables.

Keeping crazy glue in the fridge makes it last longer. I use a glue called zap. I used to build RC airplanes and that is how I discovered it. It's the best cyano out there.

Ah those dell latitudes. Have one from around 2011 that I periodically use, still holds up pretty well to modern day to day browsing.

Considering the build quality I bet they used unshielded wire from the cartridge to the preamp which made a nice antenna to pickup all of that EMI from your plasma :-).

This is the same turntable as the popular Audio Technics AT-LP60, but in a different case, and it adds the USB function. The AT3600 cartridge on these is actually used in some higher end turntables. The nice thing about these is they are set up before hand, so you do not have to do adjustments before playing. The price to sound ratio on these models is astonishingly good- most likely the best any average person would get. (Unless you get lucky and find a Technics sl1200 at goodwill for cheap in good condition, cuz that sometimes happens.) I happen to have this exact Sony on my stereo!

Le Clochard by Focus, nice relaxing tune! This player sounds better than any Crosley :)

Basically the same as the RCA LAB-1200 and Audio Technica ATLP-60, IAWA, etc. And i think they basically sound the same, (At least the RCA and the ATLP60 do) Better than a Crosley, but not high end.

Okay I'm mindblown that you put one of my favorite little known records on! I have this same model, have had it for years...but the tone arm auto return is broken. It will return too early, platter keeps spinning and the tone arm will lower in off position, then raise and go over to the record again. It's all kinds of funky. Any advice? It started happening soon after I got it and i just let it go for years lol

that crazy glue is a good idea, i so rarely use it that after the first time it'll be so long til i need it again it's dried out by then and it all goes to waste

You can get records made with music from the YT library copyright free for use in testing any record player you show in video without getting a strike. I'm sure TechMoan did this also but his was a picture disk. It's an idea and it saves all the hassle of walking on copyright eggshells.

We have some smoke effects even as far east as Ohio. Sunrises and sunsets are red.

Looks like those records need a bit of cleaning there. Otherwise it, s a nice turntable player with a different usb port connection socket. Not the rectangular type, , , compared to what i have with my 4 in one stereo unit, , , turntable, , , double cassette deck, , cd player, , and am/fm radio tuner, , , 2013 lenoxx model, , with a usb and sd card ports.

The smoke is so bad here if Madera California it has dropped the temperatures into the 80s. Normally our temperatures should be in the upper 90s.

I'm supprised that sony would put there name on such a crap deck, the a to d converters are often not much cop.
Super glue from locktight was brilliant when first made, later on it was made weaker because assholes did stupid things with it.
Dam shame :-(.

Hi there. Is this really made by Sony? I didn't know Sony made a USB turntable. Where was it made ?
I have two Sony turntables which were made in the 80s to a very high standard.
This "Sony" looks like plastic junk.
