'Have You Ever Seen The Rain' Easy Guitar Lesson + Tutorial | CCR John Fogerty

Learn how to play (I Wanna Know) "Have You Ever Seen The Rain" by Creedence Clearwater Revival. This song uses some easy, basic chord shapes and a simple strumming pattern. What makes it interesting is all the melodic bassline parts which are clearly displayed in the chord chart/TAB at the top of the screen to make learning guitar easy!

► Need help with the basic chords and strumming? My beginner guitar course will help you build a solid foundation one step at a time:

► And don't forget to grab your copy of my free eBook:

As far as the tutorial is concerned, this one is pretty simple for how cool it sounds once you get it all together. The verse is just 2 chords (C, G) and uses a simple, percussive strumming pattern. We teach you how to put that together, and then we tackle the chorus, which requires a couple more chords (Am, F, and some "slash" chords).

My favourite part of the tune, the bit that always gets me, is the descending bassline during the chorus when he sings "have you ever seen the rain." We spend some time looking at that and figuring out how to get nice, smooth chord changes.

Finally, we take a look at the intro, learn how to play the iconic bassline bit (that you can see me playing at the very beginning of this video) and that's about it.

I hope you enjoy the lesson and if you need any extra help don't hesitate to leave any questions in the comments section!

What an excellent clean presentation of this song! I must say it's not for true beginners though! If you can nail this you are already pretty experienced! Great practice.

Leave the chord chart up for each during the play-alongs not just the Letters, to show finger placement

This is awesome, took me a while to get the changes of chord smooth and the strumming pattern but it's starting to sound good. Thanks

It sounded like the song and all, but i prefer the one marty music teaches, but watching this video helped me with muting the strings, so thanks for that, you seem like a great teacher btw, you made everything quite simple to understand. Anyways, take care, peace.

Could you record with the chords the whole song at the normal tempo?

the only problem i have is playing g because it is hard to remember where the fingerings are for the note, and it’s hard to stretch out that far in just a second.
