I was born and raised in Ft. Bragg during the 80's/90's. Lived just a few blocks away from Glass Beach for years, it was my back yard. The Skunk Train was right down the street from my house, many memories of riding my bike over to see the Steam Train start off down the track during the Spring/Summer months. From Leggett to Gualala, the Mendocino Coast was a beautiful area to grow up in. I was a very lucky kid.

Oakland native here & this is my next weekend trip. I always feel nostalgic about redwood trees because of the huge one in my apartments' backyard as a child. It was the only one in our neighborhood. Can't believe being here all these years and not once thinking to explore the home state. Thanks for the video tour!

As a Sacramento resident, I have the luxury of driving either to the north coast or the southern coast with just couple hours either direction and it's lovely.

The Mendocino Coast is AWESOME! Lived there in Comptche and in Albion. Now we are in Vermont...love it but really miss Mendo. Used to hike to that waterfall and have lunch. There is something incredible about the redwoods and the ocean together in one place.

Couldn't agree more about Mendocino! My husband and have been coming here for decades, since we were just bf's and gf's. Now we have kids, 10 and 8, and this is our weekend getaway still. The fog that comes in late afternoon until morning. The smell of the ocean, trees nd so much more. It is breathtaking! We'll keep coming back at this place. And oh, I hope she washed her hands after she touched that poisonous mushrooms!

The Intro when you were at the tree area and climbing on it. That’s me and my brother favorite spot! And yes talk about crazy roads there! I get car sick so easily 🤣

So beautiful the mendocino coast and the woods, all the trees esp the Redwoods. Thanks for making such a lovely video.I lived therefrom 8/92-8/2000 in Ft. Bragg.I worked 3-11:30pm, so I had time before work to explore.I spent more time walking on or near the ocean.I love driving that short trip to Mendocino and exploring around.I only went on the Skunk train once and I liked it.This makes me homesick and I want to plan a visit.

"metal beach" is wild too. It used to be a dump in Mendocino proper. They would back their trucks up to the cliff and dump. You can see old truck engines that are fused into the cliff and a friend even found a gold ring.

Awesome video….looks like you all had a blast! I’m from the Bay and I’ll be checking out these spots soon. Taking plenty of notes 🙂👍🏽. I like that u got up early. Haha Early bird gets the worm. I love those early morning walks and crisp air. You all need to do Carmel / Big Sur next!

I live in Fort Bragg because I fell in love with the area. I show this video to friends when I want them to visit. I want to make a correction though. You actually weren’t in the pygmy forest. The pygmy forest is further inland (Usually about 2-4 miles) and the trees are tiny. I could ramble for a really long time about the environment and eco system. But a tree that is an inch or two in diameter is probably over 100 years old. The pygmy cypress is the native tree there and outside their native habitat they get huuuuge. but in the pygmy forest they are rarely over 15 feet tall. My favorite place is the secret carnivorous plant grove hidden in one of the pygmy bogs, anyway, great video.

I used to live there for some time. When glass beach had SO much glass. It was absolutely amazing. I remember being THOSE locals trying to get tourists to stop taking the glass 😂😂😂 We were such pains.
