As someone who works with testing and development of automotive software, I can say this statement is grossly incorrect. Manufacturer needs to change and flash ECU firmware VERY OFTEN, they just don't let you know about it unless it is a leagal issue and they have to by law. Previously this happened at workshops over OBD2, now its done with OTA. Bugs exist anywhere from wipers, infotainment glitches, graphics to tuning errors in maps and tables...

As a tech from the 90s the ecm or ecu get flashed many times over… now with global b they are really trying hard to keep us out..

It happened when Toyota claimed the auto braking had a glitch but it was actually to lock your ecu to keep from tuning

Happen last year to my stepfather Mercedes. And the updats ran the battery flat. The AMG had to be towed to car dealer 🤣

Nah.. why u lying. We all know they do this so that after market and owners cant tinker or fix their stuff without the manufacturer getting a cut in some form or shape.

And here i am on hour 22, 3 different operating installs on my laptop still trying to install ftdi dtivers to suit a vag-com kkl 409 cable so i can check my ecu on my ducati, it just fails everytime and says unknown device in the d manager, my brain is now pancake batter
