Ava Max just made everybody on the internet angry! Ava Max and Kygo just dropped their new song "Whatever", and people weren't happy... because "Whatever" actually samples Shakira! Today I'm going to break down 3 different Ava Max songs that prominently use samples, first "My Head & My Heart", which samples "Around The World, Million Dollar Baby, which samples "Can't Fight The Moonlight" by LeAnn Rimes (and potentially Barbie Girl), and "Whatever" which samples "Whenever, Wherever" by Shakira!

"Turning a sample into a hit song" most of the samples I hear her use are already famous songs.
It's very very different, more like she's taking the most catchy part of the song and piggy backing on its success

Ava said in an interview that she wants to keep all the classics alive. She love’s nostalgic music and she does a really good job at making it her own

You can hate on my fave artist since 2019 (Ava Max yup) but if I'm listening to the radio I hear the samples all the time, some old hits in newer versions, like Popcorn, I'm Blue etc.

Ava Max is talented at sampling songs and always gives credit where it's due. It's great to see artists bringing back nostalgia in their music.

This is just a friendly reminder that ava did indeed include shakira in the credits. There's no need to spread unnecessary hate. All artist sample it's not a bug deal unless they don't show credit, which ava did.

She doesn't hide the fact that she sample full songs based on the og songs. But you got to give her the credit for making it sounds really nice and catchy
