Brand new 2012 Shelby GT500 transformed into 1967 a Shelby GT500
Car Craft 2016 summer nationals Editors Choice Award
"Best Innovation" and a Car Craft award of Excellence.
Designed and Self-Built by Dan Burback.

Cut off all of the outer 2012 sheet metal, then welded on all brand new 1967 mustang sheet metal. No body parts or Windows of the original 2012 were used. Handmade metal fender flairs and rear spoiler. 3D printed the front grill as well as the front turn signals and reverse lights. Hand made front fiberglass splitter and many more parts. Four years of weekends in my home garage. I did all the body modifications my self except for the paint. The goal was to have a classic car that I can drive, take on some road trips, a power tour, track day, etc. The car drives awesome! It drives just like a brand new 2012 Shelby GT500, it's just what I wanted a brand new modern classic 67 Shelby GT500. "Classic Looks and Modern Muscle"

What a great idea. This is thinking out of the box.
It takes a lot of courage to do such things!!!

Oh my god, this is amazing. All the benefits of modern engineering (at the very least, safety tech) and all the beauty of yesteryear. I can't imagine the final cost of this, but it's worth it- this is beautiful, brilliant, it's the holy grail of resto-mods.

Personally, I would not do it, fitments and proportions of the wheels seems wrong for the old body imo. But the execution was great! Good job!

I just want you to know out of all the YouTube videos I've ever watched, yours is the only video I've actually (slowed down). Nice job maybe you should take it to the Ford corporation and talk them into building it. You might just have the prototype on your hands.

I think that v tuneds version is better throught out than t is for timelapse...Chris's builds are always for the hits and are rarely practical. The sills always give these cars away. Nice way of covering it up though. Respect.

So the real question here... is it more cost effective to swap body parts onto a new gt500 or find an old mustang body and retrofit it with everything needed to make it perform like a new gt500 and look like a classic one?

I’m a Chevy guy so I’ll probably get flogged here, but this is badass. I can’t believe how well it turned out. The stance is perfect!

That's really cool seeing that you can take a modern Mustang chop body panels off and then add the classic panels and it still looks normal

Grace and elegance are what make something appealing, delicate fine lines, gentle curves, whether it's a woman or a looking at an E-Type Jaguar...one sits back and admires...the underlying core beauty. No doubt that build is epic and I want it. But, sticking a muscled gymnast into a If the ongoing issue of thickness in such builds can be overcome, it would, I think be the perfect swap.

My favorite car in High school was a 69/70 Shelby GT500 and I think you just gave me an Idea to "Have My Cake and Eat It Too"!. I'll get a 2013/14 Shelby GT500 and Put a dynacorn 69 Mustang FB Body on it and Modified it with 69 Shelby GT500 Parts! Thanks and God Bless!
