Just checked my Fuel pump. No replace. Whew! Woohoo!! This list you have made available is awesome. No down time, no appt, no wait. Just knees in the breeze and twist & go. Today for the next few days. Spring is upon us here in North Texas. Thank you Cruise!

Thank you for responding. I greatly appreciate it. I must be honest, this kind of sucks. I have had many Honda’s over the years. So many, I didn’t know the oil was different for bikes and used car oil. Ugh. I was young, no internet. But no matter what, Honda’s were always indestructible. My first Goldwing. Thank you for all the work you do.

Thanks Chris for such important information.
I’m currently having a temporary living in Brazil and bought a 2018 bagger model down there with 4.250 miles five months ago. After few miles riding, the bike starts shutting down after engine becoming heated. It happens three times under the same circumstance. I took the bike to a Honda dealer that has confirmed the problem with the fuel pump. Despite the fact the bike guaranty got already expired, Honda has provided a replacement at no cost. Honda really cares about their customer regardless they are located.

I bought my 2018 in February of 19. My GW is a tour model 6sp. By the second or third year I've owned it it has shut down while riding it multiple times. It does always start back up but last year I was on a charity ride and it shut off and almost caused a wreck. I was lucky the rider behind me was paying attention. And I left everyone go before I pulled back in line. I haven't looked at the tag yet but I'm guessing it's definitely on the recall. After that incident I went to the dealer where I bought the bike from and asked if anyone else came in with this problem. I was told it's probably because of all the emission control stuff on the bike. Rather then argue I walked out. Now I know I'm not crazy.

Invaluable Info. Super nice and convenient for GW owners that you stay on top of the GW world. Always a pleasure!

Good job! You got right to the point, AND I learned something before my 4, 000 mile trip. Need to get my fuel pump inspected.

The part number is not irrelevant. If your part number has the A02 then you are good, but if it is A01 then you have to check the date code stamped below.

I pray my pump isn’t one of the ones needing replacement I don’t trust any of the Honda dealer in a hundred mile radius of me 😓

Great video here ! Sounds like Honda is on top of this, hope it doesn’t affect the riding season for too many riders . Thanks for sharing 👍😎

Thank you Chris for this information. In addition to what you have reported here I have seen on a recall notice letter that is currently circulating on social media and the Wing forums that letters to owner's of affected bikes in the US will be mailed out in April 2024. Until that date it is unlikely that NHTSA or MyHonda, etc will show your VIN as showing needing the recall. Thought this might be helpful for your viewers to also know.

Thank you Chris! If the info is accurate, it’s invaluable! Will have to remove seats from my two Goldwings and check. 🙏

Update: I started with the 2019 and BINGO, it’s a “B” so according to your info, it’s a fuel pump that needs to be replaced. No time to check the 2023 right now, will check it out later.

This was a really easy. Even if I have to take it in to meet recall requirements, in the meantime, I've got some peace of mind. Thank you!! One trick... When you're pulling the bolt that holds the seat in, stick your finger in there to hold the washer to the bolt. Don't want to chase lost parts...

Once again, great information! My dealer hasn’t said a word yet, and I’m guessing that it will take them a while to send out notification of this recall inspection. I’m not sure why they drag their feet on this stuff (too busy?). Previously I had a ‘21 Rebel 1100 DCT that had a recall for a defective stator cover that caused an oil leak. I saw several YouTubers explaining the leaking cover and stopped by my dealer to ask about it. “Oh, yeah, ” they said, “you need to bring your bike in for a recall.” That doesn’t exactly instill confidence in their services. They did make the repair, but, sheesh!

According to my Dealership. Sufficient amount of replacements parts for the anticipated bikes on their radar are not available just yet. But great suggestion on the photo. That strategy might work. Thanks for the update.

Another update. After informing my Service Dept, they still want to inspect the bike. Now I haven’t tried the picture of the fuel cell. My guess is, they want to document having seen the actual bike. Inconveniencing for customers, yes. But it makes sense, as they don’t want to sign-off on what they have not seen physically in it’s entirety. Dealing with hard to read photos, etc. Causing communication volleys with customers, etc. Just easier for Honda and the dealers to make an appt. One & done. Especially in the litigious society we live in.

Now that’s the kind of useful and relevant information I’m used to getting from Cruiseman! Thanks so much!
