i’ve been wondering about this for years! i’ve taken a historical photography class before, but i was the only non-white person there so i didnt have anyone with dark skin to practice shooting on 🤦🏽‍♀️

Kind of random but me and my cat got tintypes shot for his 16th birthday. I figured I should go all out, since how many opportunities would I have left? But now I gotta figure out what to do for his 18th smh...

What a gorgeous photo, and awesome to hear about this from a historical perspective. I know that photographers today still have tips and tricks they tend to implement to adjust when photographing darker skin, it's really great to know that even the older traditional methods had the same options!

Please, can you do an art history of Black dress makers like Anne Lowe? There must be soooo many unsung heroines.

Interesting to know and what a beautiful portrait! 😍 So amazing seeing tin-types develop, as well.

I was wondering if you would be coming back! It’s good to see a new video & I’m looking forward to more.

I would have never thought lighting affected photography like that. That's so freaking cool.
Hope you've been doing well. Thank you for posting! Looking forward to the glimpses into the past.

Fascinating. A Black Youtuber I follow, who is quite dark, was making a video with a very pale white person, and I noticed that they looked respectively darker and lighter when in shots together. So it seems to still be a thing that different skin tones work differently with recording equipment, though for other technical reasons now?

Great result! Love not having to have a darkroom. Had no idea for that process, or forgot 😅

Very cool! Will there be a longer length video on this?

Are you metering for your exposure or basing time on experience and if you are rating, what are you rating the plate at? Also, this is a Potassium Ferrocyanide solution you are issuing as Fix, right?

I know this vid is over a year old, but I just started getting into wet plate. In this overcast scenario, how long did she have to stay still to get proper exposure? I've been weary of taking photos of people without harsh light because of too much movement.

It's really good that people are taking this into account despite the technological limitations instead of using it as an excuse to avoid shooting dark skin at all

After watching your videos its clear that your main goal is to tell BP that they are and will always be "poor victims " .

Shame on you. Youre pandering to WP.
