Fujifilm X100 VI vs Xiaomi 14 Ultra vs Vivo X100 Pro Street Photography in Hong Kong

I took the two best smartphone cameras -- Xiaomi 14 Ultra and Vivo X100 Pro -- and the most hyped "real" camera (Fujifilm X100 VI) out to the streets of Hong Kong for a street photography test. I concede I am not skilled enough as a "real" photographer to fully take advantage of the Fujifilm X100 VI's full capabilities, but I was interested in seeing how these cameras perform mostly in point-and-shoot situations anyway. By no means is this a scientific test, just something I did for fun.

Your method of comparison between these devices is what most of us normal layman people would do. Buy it, take it to the streets and test it just like you did. You put it out in real world situation without predetermined condition.

I'm surprised at how close the color reproduction of the Xiaomi is to the Fujifilm.

Every time I watch a camera comparison video of Vivo X100 Pro, I feel glad and thankful to you Ben.
Just because of your positive reviews about Vivo, I made the decision to buy it.

Loving it, and everyone around who sees the camera samples of my phone just gets speechless. 😊

The vivo X100 pro is the best phone camera I've ever had or seen this year. This phone camera is ahead of its time.

I am a photographer who use fuji and have a lot of lenses and even I still use a smartphone for travelling around. It's just very convenient like that. Camera is mainly for work, if I just want a snapshot modern phones these day do the job. Afterall it's not about the tool, it's about the people who behind it anyway. So, Ben you don't need to feel pressure to disclaim you are not a photographer, we all know you have a good eye to take great photo and that make you a photographer to some :)

And beside not all "purist" photographer think that bad about smart phone these day, only certain type of people perpetuate those nasty stereotype that photographer hate anything that is not at least full frame equivalent lol

Do what you love, with the tool you have, with the budget you can afford to. Don't mind those naysayer, they are bunch of grumpy "photographer" who just never get on with time.

Thanks for the nice video and your kind way to show, explain and compare the tech facts. I was suprised about the good performance of the vivo in hard situations. a few years ago nobody had expected that smartphones come that close to real cameras.

I really wanted to see this comparison, realistically you were the only person to do it haha. Your finding confirmed a lot of my suspicions, there is definitely a fashion accessory thing going on with the fujis. 🍻

Thanks for the walking photo tour. I’m amazed at the Xiaomi and it looks to be very tempting for a smartphone. Also, it would be interesting to see some more HK or other location tours.

This was a very interesting comparison, and it shows how the image processing target a certain look (I wouldn't even be surprised if the ML models have been literally trained like this): in this case Xiaomi 14 Ultra targeting a "straight out of a camera" look while the Vivo targets a "post processing HDR look". One thing I would love to see in a single phone camera app is the ability to choose between these looks: "raw", "SOOC", "Post HDR" instead of having to pick a phone to have a single look.

Thanks for keeping it real, Ben.

I am old enough to have used film cameras, in the days before smart phone cameras. Fuji's retro design and IU took many of us back to those days, even before the Instagram fame of the x100V. I have the X100S, which feels very slow these days, as phones have improved so much! Phone prices came down with economies of scale of manufacturing but cameras don't sell as many units these days. Sorry but I am not going to pay extra for a cult camera!

Just imagine how stunning the VivoX100pro+ is going to be. The Mi14ultra is also a great camera, it just needs some good updates.

Ben, thanks for this kind of video and also for randomly including Vlad Savov! It would be fantastic to not just *see* your everyday life, but *hear* you talk to friends like Vlad :)) I miss The Verge Mobile Show from back in the day, and you triggered my nostalgia real hard! Cheers and keep up the great work 🤘🙌

I really enjoy your videos. It feels like an honest, real review. Like stuff I would do to compare phones and decide which one is best for me. Thank you, Ben

The pics in the Xioami and the Fujifilm look similar and have the camera look but the HDR of the Vivo resembles more of the human eye during the day. Our eyes have a high dynamic range

In the 90s living in the OC, California, I owned a Minolta 35mm with a 50mm lens, bought and developed my Fuji film at Savons. Always chose the 5x7 photo prints. The best prints. I have hundreds of photos.
