The final stop of Pope Francis' trip to Canada will be in Iqaluit, where he plans to speak with residential school survivors in Nunavut— many of whom say they were beaten and abused just for speaking their own language.

Across Canada, there are more than 70 Indigenous languages spoken across Canada but many are considered endangered by the United Nations.

Jeff Semple took a recent trip to Nunavut and spoke with a group of Inuit who are now working to protect their language Inuktitut, in the age of social media.

As long as the Inuit survive their language will survive.

Looking for excuses to cover up your
mistakes is an indication that
you do not want to change.
The process of looking for excuses
is detrimental to your true nature.
It harms you and leaves your conscience with
no place to stay.

Ohhhh... I didn't know that the languages of Eskimos & other Inuits were dying, too. :-( Heaven knows that American Indian languages are in desperate need of preservation themselves!
