Thank you for posting an honest review of the resorts in Cuba. There is a Canadian guy, who obviously is paid by the resorts to post dishonest, positive reviews. His job is to reel the fish in for these resorts. Hence his name.

Nevertheless I made a constructive utube video on Melia Marina. The resort may not be perfect because of the food but I like the serenity and tranquility of the resort. It's peaceful. I love the heavenly beach. We bought a lot of snacks from Canada so we stocks food in our hotel during our stay. Like Doritos pringles, noodles in a cup, Vietnamese soup, TAKIS and other junk foods.

Are you going to be swimming in the pool that's at the front of the hotel?

If you are paying for a room, I think a bar of soap should be included.
Coffee, tea in the room is offered to all Melia hotels world wide. Cuba tourism will take years to rebound if ever.

Duh! Never stay at the resorts…ALWAYS stay at a Casa Particular (AirBnB type private homes that are available all over the island).

Think about it: The Cuban owner of a Casa wants you to come back…and he wants you to tell your friends. The state run hotels and the workers in them DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU AND ME. The Casa’s tend to serve far fresher and better food and at a much cheaper price. Not only that, they are all licensed and safe with the owners often offering wifi, money exchange, helping you with Spanish… and arranging taxis, local and to the provinces!

Cuba is a different world. Trust me, DO NOT EVER stay at a resort unless you just like wasting money!

Disregard the ignorance of Richard Robitaille - myopic opinion -

There is no where that shows this resort is a 5 star all sites show 3 to 3.5 stars.

We travel 3 times a year to Cuba, because it's affordable. We paid 755$ in June and 845$ in July for 7 days, you can't even book 5 nights in the sleaziest hotel in Niagara falls for that price.

Hotel looked great, your room seemed nice and the beach was beautiful. Who cares about seaweed just go around it. Dania City in Florida should shut down it's beach.... because they're not removing seaweed.

It's been known for a while that Melia Marina Verdadero is bad, hopefully the rest of your trip was enjoyable.

You will not find any all inclusive resort that has buffets open at anytime. That is called the snack bar. You're lucky you got an a la carte restaurant. You're a season traveler. I think you should know that there's not one resort. Especially in veradero, that has a buffet open endlessly. They have set hours, usually a three hour for lunch, dinner and breakfast each. It depends on the time of your check in. And it sounds like the credit card machine was not working. It's not that they don't know how to use it. They've clearly processed dozens or hundreds before you.

In Cuba, a 5 Five star resort is at best a 3 star.
The economic downturn in Cuba since 2020, has destroyed the tourism on the island. Melia is a huge company who manages most of Cubas
Resorts.
Melia has to realize their reputation is at stake by operating a five-star hotel in such a way.

You quite obviously did not research your destination . Cuba has been in the news due to the lack of everything .What the hell do you expect for the cheap cost of a Cuban all inclusive ?
