I'd work very hard but I'm lazy
I can't take the pressure and it's starting to show
In my heart you know that it pains me
A life of leisure is no life you know

Waking up and getting up has never been easy,
Oh oh, I think you should know.
Waking up and getting up has never been easy,
Oh, oh, I think you should know.
Oh, oh, I think you should go.
Make a cup of tea, and put a record on.

I'd work very hard but I'm lazy
I've got a lot of songs but they're all in my head.
I'll get a guitar and a lover who pays me
If I can't be a star I won't get out of bed.

Waking up and getting up has never been easy,
Oh, oh, I think you should know.
Waking up and getting up has never been easy,
Oh, oh, I think you should know.
Oh, oh, I think you should go.
Make a cup of tea, and put a record on.

Waking up and getting up has never been easy,
Oh, oh, I think you should know.
Waking up and getting up has never been easy,
Oh, oh, I think you should know.
Oh, oh, I think you should go.
Make a cup of tea, and put a record on.

Elastica was great. I remember buying this album when it first came out. The 90s were a great time for rock music.

Nice song I can see myself listening whilst on a walk during a chilly day wit the clouds/sky looking grey wit barely any sunlight

Not been reminded of this band, album and their songs in years. Listening to this and its like yesterday. A rare album where I liked, if not loved, every song on it. So many road trips with this playing too loud on my cheap car speakers.

I'm kind of stunned this video has so few views (even the VEVO version has < 3m). It's a top song from one of the defining album of the '90s. It's my favourite (or 2nd-favourite) Elastica song, depending on the day.

Think of the vocal range Justine shows between this, Stutter, and Connection. Each song has a different vibe, and her singing style is unique to each. This song is soulful and mellow, yet doesn't take itself too seriously -- one of the best features of Elastica. They banged out great tunes and had fun doing it. What more can you ask of a band?

Loved it when Justine was wearing a tshirt saying Know Your Heroes around the time of this song's release

J'ai tellement aimé cette musique à l'époque, et c'est toujours aussi bon à réécouter.

Ha, just woke up (05.06 a.m.), and remembered how much loved this tune of yours. Singing it loud! Hope that you are well, dear Justine. Much love.

Now, if they'd had Justine singing this with Jean-Jacques Burnel and Dave Greenfield then it would truly have been EPIC!
