Here is a side by side sound comparison of the Pavan TP-30 Cedar & Spruce Acoustic Cutaways. A very common question is "Whats the difference between Spruce and Cedar?". There are no sounds enhancements. Here you can listen to the nuances and differences between spruce and cedar recorded from the same session. Good luck!

Song: Maria by Francisco Tarrega

Ken Meyer, guitar professor at Syracuse University and Onondaga Community College dropped by the shop last week to play a few Pavan guitars. We headed over to a local studio and recorded some samples on each guitar. The session was informal, and the sound unedited or enhanced. There are no added effects such as reverb, equalization etc. This gives an honest experience of the Pavan sound. Please enjoy Ken's wonderful playing and feel free to reach out with any questions!

My next guitar will definitely be the cedar AC. I already have the standard spruce TP-30, and I love everything about it.

More warmth and presence with cedar, which is my preferred top.

Having had both, though not on top-notch instruments, I would say that spruce gives a clearer, richer note, especially in the trebles. Both have their strengths I suppose.
