God, I love the alt build. The sloping split nose design doesn't even look like it was made from another set's pieces, it just looks like a complete set in its own right. The alt builds being consistently so good make Roboforce feel like a much larger line than 4 sets. Also great to see the Galaxy Squad love.

Every time I think "it's been some time since Slugger uploaded" a new video appears not even a week later

I always love when these looks at LEGO sets years past end up showing how a lot of the same concepts on the past still show up in the 21st century.

The detail of Slugger being on the fence at 6:50 did not pass me by.

One day we'll have our Galaxy Squad retrospective. Just give it 15-20 years

I was expecting Galaxy Squad to enter the conversation during an Insectoids video. This retrospective is the gift that keeps on giving!

That Galaxy Squad set was one of my favorites when I was a kid! I had no idea that it was inspired by Robo Riders, and much less that it was compatible! I actually said “Awwh” when you revealed that haha! It’s such a sweet tribute, and it sealed the deal for me that it was a spiritual remake. Fantastic video!

Not only are the Robo Stalker and Robo Guardian's heads interchangeable with each other, but they're also interchangeable with the "head"/capsule of the Exploriens' 6899 Nebula Outpost! The Hydronauts' 6150/6159 Crystal Detector is tantalizingly close, but not quite the same -- it has a 2x4 plate on the turntable instead of tiles, so the Space head-units attach with too much clutch power, while the Crystal Detector mini-sub can only rest loosely on the others' shoulders.

Easily my favorite set in this theme. You can really see the influence of so many 1980s "action assault vehicle" type toys, with that detachable flyer!

The style of windscreen at 5:13 first appeared in 1985 in transparent light blue as part of a fire house set (6385), and was only seen in that color, and in clear for twelve years prior to appearing in the Robo Stalker in transparent orange. But after appearing in transparent blue in at the end of the '90s, this piece became less frequent, becoming borderline exclusive to City-related sets in transparent brown and transparent light blue during the mid and late 2000s. It appeared in Mata red in a farm set (7637), and in Mata green as part of the "Combine Harvester" (7636) in 2009, and it made its last appearance in its origin color of transparent light blue as part of an airport set 3182 from 2010. It then made a second and final appearance in Mata red as part of a "Red Cargo Train" (3677) in 2011, and would make a few more appearances in transparent brown, with its final appearance being in a Construction-related set (4204) in 2012, before this part was phased out altogether.
At 6:32, that piece also debuted in 1994 in white as part of the "Century Skyway" set (6597), even as it was rarely used in any other colors besides white or black. In fact, many of the other colors this part appeared in-such as Mata green, sand blue and medium dark pink, only appeared in one set each as perennial "One set wonders" in that sense. This part was initially retired in 2004, but was brought back at the start of 2006 in the "Stealth Hunter" (7700) from Exo-Force, and is still in use today (at least as of last year). The 12x9 Bi-level wing plate at 1:59 also made two more appearances in the old dark gray in the "Insectoids" theme in 1998 before it was phased out completely.

i do think the upper half of this robot is a lot better than the lower half. and seeing all the unexpected ways it can interact with sets from very different themes was fun

That throwaway little red riding hood joke is the exact kind of thing I LOVE in your videos

Aw yeah, it's my boy's turn! This was the only RoboForce set I got as a kid. Definitely one of my favorite sets from back then.

This is one I'd love to find all the parts of in the Bins of Clawset and then rebuild but also upgrade with some modern pieces. Better legs at the minimum would be a must.

The Robo Stalker's design reminds me of various Japanese fighting robots I've seen on TV that usually fought against giant monsters in various tokusatsu TV shows and films...
