This is a really helpful video. She nailed it. Another big thing they're looking for is Time Management. How many balls do you have in the air? How well do you keep them in the air -- are you dropping any? If you are only really good at one thing, get easily stressed when you're asked to do too much you might re-think applying to a service academy.

I would really like to go to the naval academy. I’m currently a freshman with a 4.28 gpa and I take 5 honors classes (also a 1250 psat if that means anything). I am not extremely athletic at the moment, I can do a lot of sit ups and have good endurance but I’ve never been too athletically gifted. I played basketball and currently take lessons, I have around a 8:30 mile time rn not good but if I were to spend a lot more time training would I be better off?

I took Football and Wrestling my freshman year, but now I am shifting gears to marching band and more academic based classes. Do I absolutely need continue to take athletics in school to have a shot? Or are there applicants who don’t do athletics but score well on the physical tests. Also if I join sports can it be outside of school?

I'm having trouble getting a good answer on how the academies count weighted vs unweighted GPA's. I was told that they use a weighted GPA but don't modify the transcript - meaning that if it was weighted they would use that. Any insight on that?
