I used to live in Amsterdam until the end of 2000 – and this area (IJburg) simply didn't exist back then. Most of it was still water, but then they basically built an entire city there. We went on a holiday to Amsterdam a few years back, and stayed in IJburg. The tram would still stop on the other side of Central Station.
I know that building land out of water is something that we Dutch routinely do, but when you really think about it, it's absolutely amazing.

So you can see the lady running but just ignored her. This is typical of Dutch tram drivers.

The Amsterdam tram network, a superb undertaking, always gets me how quick the trams stop, they must have a very good WSP (Wheel Slip Protection) and incredibly quick of the mark. I also like how the top catenary cable is straight has an arrow, but the contact wire and droppers are staggered for the collection pan. An immaculate system, always seems very tidy and neat.

Het Amsterdamse tramnetwerk, een geweldige onderneming, weet me altijd hoe snel de trams stoppen, ze moeten een zeer goede WSP (Wheel Slip Protection) hebben en ongelooflijk snel van het doel. Ik vind het ook leuk hoe de bovenleidingkabel recht is, heeft een pijl, maar de rijdraad en druppelaars zijn verspringend voor de opvangbak. Een smetteloos systeem, lijkt altijd erg netjes en netjes. Leuk om een tramrit te zien langs het mooie busstation. Ziet er ook handig uit voor extra ritten ipv alleen calamiteiten, omdat het zo druk is op CS

Waarom heeft de tram geen beïnvloeding op de stoplichten bij 8:00? Is hier makkelijk te realiseren. Er is nu een onnodig oponthoud van bijna 1 minuut.
