Please react for her singing Oscar winning tears at the Royal Albert Hall. She is with a massive orchestra and it’s phenomenal!

RAYE is the singer. She’s independent. She writes all her own music (as well as writing music for other artists like Beyoncé), as well as doing backing vocals for many other artists. She was locked into a really bad contract with a major label for 7 years that didn’t allow her to make the kind of music she wanted to (despite, as I said, being good enough to write for and sing with the label’s other major stars). 🙄

Finally, her contract was over, she went independent, and made the debut album she’d been wanting to make for 7 years called “My 21st Century Blues”. It was released in 2023. She also released a version of it with a full symphony later on. Both versions are truly fantastic. Since her album release, she’s become highly critically acclaimed and respected by many inside the music industry, as well finding more and more popularity amongst the general public.

She was nominated for a record 7 Brit Awards (the UK version of the Grammys), and won a record 6 awards, including Best New Artist and Album of the Year. She’s performed on SNL, to great acclaim, released an incredible concert video, and, a few months ago, released a new 7 minute, 3 part song and music video (more like performance art piece) called Genesis, which is a masterpiece.

Her live performances are truly where she shines and she always has an incredible band with her. She has a fantastic 20 minute Tiny Desk concert, which would be a great next thing to react to from her, if you want to, obviously. It’s an intimate setting, so you can see her personality a lot more, but she still brought a band with her. Honestly, she, Ren, Noah Kahan, and Chappell Roan are my favourite recent discoveries (within the last 1-2 years).

Thanks you for the reaction! Sorry for the very long comment but I thought, since you liked her and the band so much, you might want to know more. Oh, and yes, she’s from the UK, specifically South London. 😊

I’m SOOOO glad you reacted to RAYE. I love her. She’s phenomenal and easily my favorite new singer since last year. You need to react to her entire album. It’s meant to be listened to as one piece. It’s called 20th Century Blues and it’s a 10/10. Any song off that album is a banger.
She tried to release an album for 7 years but her label pigeonholed her and wouldn’t let her because they were trying to keep her in the EDM genre so she finally released her album herself last year.

she's one of the most fascinating artists to me nowadays, for my taste of course. she's just.. different, you know it by her autheticity, vulnerability, all the power and passion she shows in her voice!
please keep reacting to her, i'm sure you'll love it.

I love it when I get to share someone of this quality with you! She’s great isn’t she? She just set an award for the number of BritAwards she won this year. She has written for John Legend and Beyoncé. I am a fan!

She is Raye & that’s her band. The band she tours with. Raye is the best. Check out her cover of ‘It’s a Mans world’ at the Montreaux Jazz festival or both her performances on SNL

This performance was about a year ago and even though this sounded crazy, her latest performances (at the north sea jazz festival and montreaux jazz) were just perfect

As soon as the drummer started in, I said to myself, 'that snare drum sounds fantastic'!! Not even a minute later you stopped the video and commented on how good it sounded. 👍 That band was incredible, the young lady was incredible! I already read the comments and learned a lot about her. I wish her a LONG life filled with joy, peace and success.

Raye is the lady singing. As close as I have got to describing her live sound is a big band fronting Jazz Rapper but she is not lesser in any of the fields. Her only album is more R&B but think that was budget related not desire but as she has found fame the band has grown. She is the real deal & is only held back by being independent with no major label pushing her.
