Viewers have flocked to tune in to "Minning Town," a Chinese TV drama spotlighting a real-life poverty alleviation project in northwestern China from the 1990s.

"Minning" is a portmanteau comprising two Chinese characters associated with the coastal province of Fujian and the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.

Over the past two decades, more than 60,000 villagers in Ningxia, under the guidance of China's poverty alleviation policy and with assistance from Fujian, have triumphed over poverty after their relocation to Minning Township from Xihaigu.

The Fujian-Ningxia poverty alleviation partnership pairs officials in Fujian with their counterparts in Ningxia so that they can better coordinate necessary resources and support to help poverty alleviation efforts in Ningxia. I will make a prediction: Someday sooner than 2050, China's villages, towns and even cities, those that have been lifted out of extreme poverty and then poverty in general, will network and coordinate with villages, towns and cities in Africa and South Asia to help them lift themselves out of poverty. The mutual flow of assistance between coastal developed China and rural undeveloped China will light the way between China and Africa, and China and South Asia.

It is impossible for us to undertake many international proletarian obligations, so our contributions remain small. Xi built up China’s infrastructures, but I still believe the seed for China’s growth came from Deng Xiao Ping. Both of them made decisions that benefited the people. Progress is just that, progressively forward. So good on them, keeping the people at heart. Population decline, aging population, spendings, these are all hard times ahead. China, being such a big country with such a big population size, absolute poverty can still be lifted. this has been literally the first time throughout the 5000 years. I still remember that 6 years ago, I saw a public service announcement on television about poverty alleviation, and now, look at china, it has done it!
