In the live action of "The Lady and the Tramp" Gulf is given a background of how he used to have a family but when his owners had a baby they abandoned him and never came back for him, something that I really liked since it gives him more sense of why Golfo considered babies to be homewreckers and also to the phrase: "When the baby arrives, the dog leaves"

I know there are lots of people who love both their babies and dogs with equal amount of love and affection, but for Tramp’s own implied owners? They were probably too cruel to show that feeling and just gave up their own dog in favour of their own child out of selfishness. In my opinion, it felt like one minute Tramp’s owners cared about him, then when the baby comes along they care about it more and just got rid of Tramp like backstabbing traitors. Shame on those kinds of people who aren’t like those who keep their kids and dogs together like a big happy family.
