In Norse myth, Odin is described more like a wandering wizard. Figures like Gandalf and Santa Claus are based off of traditional depictions of Odin, so it is really fitting that instead of giving us a muscular mega god, Odin is a skinny, balding old man that uses his words to command the room. He is like a mafia boss.

You guys also should consider that in the beginning of GoW3, the single charged lightning bolt of Zeus heavily damaged Gaia (since it contact her initially) and aftershock of the bolt sent Kratos flying even thou Kratos literally tried to use Golden Fleece(It can be seen in a split second). The same Golden Fleece which can block the hits from Blade of Olympus.
