What Polling Says About Trump, Harris And An Election “Doom Loop” | MPP Podcast

Is the current presidential election lining up along the same lines as the past two Trump referenda with a small number of swing states and an even smaller subset of issues (in 2024: jobs, inflation, immigration, and wars) deciding who will become America’s 47th president?

David Brady and Douglas Rivers, Hoover Institution senior fellows, and managers of a tracking poll on the US electorate, discuss with distinguished policy fellow, Bill Whalen, what’s different in a contest featuring known (Donald Trump) and lesser-known (Kamala Harris) entities, what matters most to independent voters, the odds of one or both chambers of Congress flipping, plus whether Pennsylvania is the “new Florida” as ground zero for deciding presidential outcomes.

Recorded on September 26, 2024.

ABOUT THE SERIES

Matters of Policy & Politics will examine the direction of federal, state, and local leadership and elections, with an occasional examination of national security and geopolitical concerns, all featuring insightful analysis provided by Hoover Institution scholars and guests.

I'm curious about what this panel thinks are the odds of a large number of Harris votes coming in during the night when no partisan observers are present.

Harris has a 50% approval rating huh… I’m in New Jersey and I can’t think of a single person that approves of her.. what exactly do they approve of? You’re trying to tell us that people think this administration has done a good job.? That she in particular has done a good job? On what exactly?

Many states already have price gouging laws. SC and Ga made a point that they will enforce these laws regarding the hurricane we just experienced. Why should Harris push for a federal law when states already have the law?

I tend to believe Yarvin, who says the Dems continue to refine their election “fortification” methods, and basically can never lose another national election.

The more accurate term for “college educated” is “college indoctrinated”.

Just imagine what happens to the GOP when a majority of States decide to allocate their electors to the winner of the popular vote…

I get digital polls daily. I don't pay any attention to them. I don't answer robo-calls. I vote Republican. Always have.
