Σύμφωνα με δημοσίευμα της ελληνικής ειδησεογραφικής ιστοσελίδας Πρώτο Θέμα, ο Καγκελάριος της Αυστρίας, Σεμπάστιαν Κουρτς με ανάρτηση του στο twitter, προέβη σε σκληρή δήλωση εναντίον της Τουρκίας και σε ξεκάθαρη στήριξη της Ελλάδας και της Κύπρου, σχετικά με τις νέες έρευνες που ξεκίνησε να διεξάγει η Τουρκία με το ερευνητικό πλοίο Oruc Reis, και με το άνοιγμα της παραλίας στα Βαρώσια.
Eπίσης με δεύτερη ανάρτηση του δήλωσε ότι εάν η Τουρκία συνεχίσει να παραβιάζει το διεθνές δίκαιο, θα αντιμετωπίσει κυρώσεις από την Ευρωπαϊκή Ένωση και επίσης ότι πρέπει να υπάρξει οριστικό τέλος στις ενταξιακές διαπραγματεύσεις της Τουρκίας.

According to a report on the Greek news website Proto Thema, Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz tweeted a harsh statement against Turkey and gave clear support to Greece and Cyprus over new surveys launched by the Turkey with the research ship Oruc Reis, and with the opening of the beach in Varosha.
He also said in a second post that if Turkey continued to violate international law, it would face sanctions from the European Union and that there should be a final end to Turkey's accession negotiations.
