The final is memorable and heartbreaking

I saw an interview with Dave where he said that he played some of these tapes for Kurt and he liked them and encouraged him. There is one Nirvana song written by Dave and he sings lead vocal with Kurt doing backing vocals. It’s called Marigold. It was released as the b-side on the “Heart Shaped Box” single. It’s a beautiful melodic song.

Even though I'm not really a Dave Grohl fan, I still can relate to this retrospective. I've written copious original material of my own, and because I've never had a band in which to showcase it or perform it, I have done all these solo records on which I play all the instruments and do all the singing.

Dave isn’t actually telling the truth here, people had heard his songs. Kurt had heard Alone and Easy Target & Exhausted and loved them, wanted to change the lyrics and make them Nirvana songs, just didn’t have the chance or was worried about upsetting Dave.
