100% FIX - Crazy Network Switch Heat

Ubiquiti makes outstanding products. Even if you don't like the UniFi line you still have to give them points for a well thought out GUI and product intergration.

UniFi Switch 48 US-48 Non-POE with SFP 2 SFP Ports. Unit was running 150+ degF and starting to cause odd power cycles. The built-in micro fan would never cut on. I modded/Voided-Warrantee by adding two 120mm Arctic PWN ultra-quiet Fans and a 12v DC transformer. After cutting two hole in the cover of the unit everything else is easy. These switches are well built and the metal is thick. I have had ZERO problems for a years with these switches after adding the fan, and they are run 24/7 continuously. (went from 150+ to 97 degF). Do at your own risk.

Temp change from: 152 degF to 97 degF. That is a 55 degF difference. Not a small change. It has now been over 30 days and the fans have been working constantly without and failures. That is over 760 hours and counting. This mod might seem drastic but a 55 degF permanent reduction in device killing heat is hardly achievable by any other method. (Stay smart people!)
