Gillian Anderson has really upped her game over the years. Loved her in Hannibal

Also best writer Vince Gilligan. He wrote all my fave episodes and Breaking Bad, and he was sorely lacking from this season.

We didn't see enough of Skinner, he had like no storyline.

Flash forward to season 11 where Chris Carter royally fucks up everything, and the fans agree to pretend the events of the series finale never happened.

I've always though David Duchovny shines more in comedies. The third episode proves it if you ask me. Loved him in X-Files just as much as in Californication though.

Episode 3 "Mulder and Scully meet the were-monster" was so, so, SO clever... It was a pleasure to watch. When you're watching a show and you're not only enjoying it, but you're also thinking to yourself "Man... This is genius"... I just love that feeling. Everything about the episode was great; the writing, the humour, the homage to those really old monster movies like "monster of the blue lagoon" (or whatever the title was... Just go with it, you know what I'm trying to say), and the ending with Mulder stating that he was glad to have met Guy Mann because that had gotten him to believe again and then the X Files theme plays before fading to black... It was simply great TV

The best episode was the one with the were-monster character. It was clever and very inventive.

I just love the fact that X-Files is back, with the original cast. i never thought we would see that.

Man that scene where Moulder thinks hes high is the funniest thing Ive ever seen in the X-Files. I think you missed how hilarious it was. It had me in stiches :-) third episode was my favorite too! Great video :-)

I loved the series. But i actually disagree with most of what you said. If its only back for 6 eps. I want an all Alien arc. Not Monster of the week.

Season 10 was a huge slap in the face.... That cliffhanger.... The fact they've practically retconned the whole series now as well didn't go down to well. Great review man.

Thanks for recommending 11.22.63, Chris Stuckman. More people should watch it. It's an incredible series! The pilot is probably the best pilot episode I have ever seen.

Am I the only person who really loved I Want to Believe? It was actually the movie that got me into The X-Files.
If the movie was terrible I would never had watched the series...

I love that you used to write short stories about the X Files. Those were actually the first fan fics I ever wrote. I was hardcore obsessed with this show. I am glad they brought it back. It made me feel like a kid again all excited like I used to be each Sunday night.

Monster of the week episodes always let you see Mulder and Scully in new contexts dealing with issues in a novel way without having to dredge up some old dramatic through line that tied them to certain reactions and emotional cues. You could be surprised. Whatever the monster of the week fans are called (smart?) I'm with you on it.

Funny, I actually liked the mythology more than monsters of the week.
