My parents brought home a corn snake when I was just a year old. They allowed me to interact with him ALL the time! Now I’m 19 and I take full responsibility for his care ❤️ my boy Snakey is 18 years old and living his best life 🥰🥰

Thanks Adam! When my kid was petitioning for her first snake, these are all the same things she mentioned on why she chose a corn. Smart kid and we have a happy, healthy pet.

I never was a HUGE corn snake fan, until I realized how many morphs there were and how much of an awesome personality most of them have

Like many, first reptile was a corn snake. My wife used to be afraid of snakes, but watching videos like these, and Snake Discovery made her a little calmer about snakes enough so that she was okay with me getting one as long as only I cared for it. Fast forward 3 years with our little Maizie girl, my wife now loves snakes and wants one of her own ❤️ They're such a good snake, especially for timid beginners.

I feel like the only thing I would change is climbing space, my corn LOVES to hang in the trees and bridge in her tank. She has a long, and tall tank because at night and midday she is always climbing.

Love my corn snake. Awesome eater. Never strikes. And after about 2 months, she became real calm when holding and super curious in her tank. Still likes her hides but keeps an eye on me most of the time and will often come to the front of the tank if I start crinkling something in front of it. Can't want until she gets older and bigger.

Got my first corn snake when I was 58. “Ron Weasley” will soon be 4 yrs old. Now I have another one. “John Snow”. He is 6 months old. I am going to my first Reptile show at the end of this month. My favorite snake.

I have a corn snake and I love it. In general they are very docile, reluctant to bite and very easy to care for.

For scaleless corns, I recommend a more humid setup than regular corns at least when they're ready to shed. I tried keeping my scaleless on aspen the same as all my other corns and there were some problem sheds. Once I changed the substrate to cypress and added a humidity hide, shed problems went away.

Check your local laws, in Virginia you're not supposed to keep normal corns and you won't find them at stores or shows. There's plenty of other kinds of corns though.

Great video.

Thank you. My husband got a corn snake yesterday and I fear he may not have done the research on it. I want to make sure we take care of this dude properly!

Guys...my corn snake Snuggles has been missing for 8 months. I just started cleaning my basement this morning due to a leak and found a pretty fresh shed. I have a thawed mouse in a critter carrier now for him to eat and I'm so pumped to know he's alive! I need a new style tank. Clips didn't cut it for me!!

Just got my very first Corn Snake and your video was so helpful! I have always had Ball Pythons and once as a kid a Burmese Python, but I am super happy with choosing a Corn snake this time around she is so sweet and her personality is so friendly.

I’ve owned only python/boas I rescued my first corn few days ago. I feel like it completely shifted snakes for me the personality and intelligence is underrated. The golden retriever is such a good reference, it’s just a easy smart trust worthy easy to care for reptile. I love ‘em

I loved you coming out with this video. After research, my almost year old corn that I've had for six months is on a mix of reptisoil and sand (he just started to burrow and dig which freaked me out looking for him). He's got uvb and a Repticooler, which helps keep the temp gradient as I'm in Phoenix Arizona. He's been doing well. Corn snakes snakes have to be some of the sweetest snakes and easiest to handle.

My corn snake digs like a pro. He has tunnels all over his enclosure, and 3 hides so he is sometimes impossible to find. :P He also loves to climb, all over, so I have a bunch of branches and plants in there where he can hide and climb all over. He is a very active boy. 🐍

I have a handsome ghost corn snake and I loved most of what you said on here.
But I do wanna mention that, in my experience, they do enjoy climbing space and exploring every surface I can put in there. Which actually helps them stay off the plants for the most part since my boy loves being up on his branches. So I actually keep a thriving bioactive enclosure for him to be a spoiled garden noodle. I have dry environment plants on one side and then more thirsty plants on the water dish side so he can control how moist he wants to be too. On his dry side I actually buried his hide so he has a "cave" to go into and he it in there!
Thanks for doing this video ^_^

Rewatching this because I got a corn snake at the expo this past It was a lavender male and I was blown away at the price (cos, "Lavender") and couldn't pass him up! Absolutely love the sweetheart. I already had a couple of baby set ups ready in case I brought anything home and he is settling in.

My 1st reptile (of my own) was a corn snake. Absolutely amazing, and would recommend to anyone.
This is a great video for anyone thinking to get a corn snake of their own. The only thing I'd add, which someone else has already said is some higher up enrichment too. Mine has hammocks either end, with a vine going between them, and it is amazing how much he will use it. Quite often he will find his way to go on top of the UVB too. Is quite a small space, but he does like it. If it's in their enclosure, they will use it for sure. 🙂
As for temperament, I trust mine more than my (very friendly) cat to not try and bite me. Definitely monitor younger children with them, as mine has constricted a bit around my neck quite tightly, but not at all out of malice, but because his "hoomin climbing frame can get slippery sometimes!" 😄
