PAPUSAZA| TARAB - Faran Ensemble | Indian Fusion

An Indian fusion belly dance piece performed by the company members and advance students of Nrityakosh for the production, "Papusza - The Rise and Fall of a Romani Poet".

PAPUSZA is a belly dance production that charts the journey of one of the greatest Romani poets of the same name. A path-breaker, a female poet in a culture that deemed literacy ‘unsuitable’ for women - her life is both fascinating and tragic. While her art made her the first Roma woman to be included in the Polish Literary Union, it also led to her being exiled by her own people. The production is story of her relentless spirit and her quest for freedom to express herself through her art.

This production was staged on Dec 3 and 4th in Prabhat Kaldwaraka and Bangalore International Centre, respectively.

Nrityakosh is a performance house and a school for belly dancers and belly dance enthusiasts. We specialize in the Egyptian Oriental and Tribal Fusion forms of Belly Dance along with Kathak, Contemporary and Bollywood dance.
