This type of elevator is called a "Paternoster lift, " and it's not scary after you use it for the first time. When I was studying at college in the Czech Republic, I was using that all the time. It has better efficiency than a normal elevator thanks to no waiting time for an arriving elevator.
Yes, it can be dangerous, but only for people who don't know how to behave.

In Budapest (capital of Hungary) is 1 of this type of elevators too. There is only 3 in the world.😊 They are actually very practical and easy to use.
