Barovier&Toso Tales | 29. Rostrato
A complex manufacturing process, a technique which was widely used in the beginning of the XXth for the manufacturing of the Murano chandeliers, invented by Ercole Barovier in 1938. This technique is carried out during the molten state by hand by the craftsman: the result is a series of faceted prisms, that resembles the ashlar typical of renaissance architecture, which in return resembles the structure of a diamond. Only a master with a lot of experience can realize these pieces. It is very important that the “wire” of glass is very unvarying and perfectly connected to the others. The extrusion is quite simple. The difficult part is in making the prisms very similar in dimensions. Only a great experience can give life to a perfect rostrato!
