You are correct my friend. Milt Jackson is one of the greatest improvisational talents of the Bebop era and the contribution Bobby Hutcherson made to progressive music of the 1960s can not be overstated! Idiots who diss an important Jazz instrument like the Vibraphone are idiots and to be ignored! Also don't forget about Hampton, Red Norvo, Terry Gibbs and many others great players of this instrument!

I think I may have misspoke. What I mean to say is that is isnt necessarily important in comparison to other instruments. I mean you can't really say that vibes are equivalent in importance when comparing it to saxophone. Does that make sense?

I think it's important from a musical perspective as well. What about Gary Burton? He is an important person in the jazz lineage. There are also others who have made large contributions. Bobby Hutcherson, Joe Locke, Milt Jackson to name a few. To say it's not an important instrument in a musical perspective is not entirely true.

@kgthekid21 the first racially integrated jazz band to ever be recorded, the buddy goodman quartet, included lionel hampton on vibes. this opened an unthinkable amount of doors. pretty important if you ask me.
