I wish I could have been a fly on the wall in the Martin shop in 1927. When there were just a few humble craftspeople building at their highest level. I wonder if they would have ever dreamt that their guitars would be so revered 100 years later? I often say that there is nothing like time to make a guitar reach its highest potential. This is the perfect example of that. I’m sure the guitar was great in 1927, but I’m sure even that instrument would pale compared to the one I’m holding here today. This is magical, dry, woody, clear, and powerful. It’s why this is one of the holy grail guitars.

In 2015 George Gruhn had the Martin Custom Shop create a 0000-18S Adi/Mahogany guitar, to celebrate the the 45 years that his store had been open in Nashville, TN. I have one of those guitars, and now I can see where George may have gotten his inspiration to create the model. The 0000-18S is a 12 fret, slot head, with the CF Martin headstamp on the back of the headstock, similar to this one. It has other details that are different, but I can see where it's Martin Heritage comes from. Nice video, Paul!
