The Bears' search for a head coach continues, and the list of people the team is looking to interview just keeps growing. In this episode, Dan Wiederer and Mark Grote ponder why the Bears feel the need to talk to so many people for this job. And what do they think about some of the top names on the list? Head coach Mike McCarthy is out in Dallas and is going to talk to the Bears. Would he be a good fit in Chicago? There's also current Notre Dame football coach Marcus Freeman. Does he have any desire to even interview? Later, the guys react to the the NFL wild-card round, which largely wasn't great. #MikeMcCarthy #MarcusFreeman #Bears #NFL

Three Blind Mice is a song that describes the Bears leadership.

McCarthy is probably my 2nd choice after Johnson. His offenses are always good everywhere he's been, and he can put together a great staff. As an added bonus, he developed Caleb Williams' favorite player into a hall of famer and won a Superbowl. He can make a pretty appealing case. I'm also a fan of Kingsbury and Monken as secondary/tertiary options, but make no mistake, Johnson is the guy.

The Bears don't have to interview everyone. Narrow a list down.

I like Marcus Freeman more and more everyday. And I like him to stay at ND for the next 10 years. Or at least I hope he does.

I prefer Ben Johnson, but would be OK with McCarthy, Monken, or Carroll.

If anyone today says they would not take Andy Reid after he left Philadelphia knowing what they know now with Reid they should all be taking a big large hard look at McCarthy. So what he has had failures in the off-season, so did Andy Reid in Philly. But at least McCarthy has won a Super Bowl. You can easily make the case McCarthy is the far better candidate than Ben Johnson.

Hiring Ben Johnson would be rolling the dice once again on a coordinator that you're elevating to head coach. The Bears have tried this over and over again. That describes each of their last two head coaches. It's not working. The Bears brain trust should opt for Carroll or Rivera or McCarthy, rather then pretending that they can read the tea leaves and figure out which coordinator is the right one to promote. They need an experienced NFL head coach, which means they'll probably hire a coordinator.

What are they supposed to do until Ben Johnsons season is over? Sit on their hands?

I dont know how I feel about McCarthy, but the Bears have had mediocrity after mediocrity. We need at least some sort of average to slightly above average before we start immediately saying no to these candidates.

the bears are out of their minds interviewing some of these guys. it’s a clown show.

either go with high upside with BJ or go with proven HC who is good with qbs like Mike M.

but why even interview a defensive coach or a 1 year wonder at OC or college coaches.

what is wrong with this org? they always seem out of their league.
